Medusa Guide
Gurfurlur the Menacing

This is my navigation guide to finding the ToAU King of Mamook, Gulool Ja Ja. ToAU kings are difficult to get to and require attention from all members in the group desiring to take down these guys. The fight against Gulool Ja Ja is a fun one and not entirely difficult. I hope this navigation guide will help make the path to Medusa an easy one.

Required Items
1) Halvung Bronze Key
2) Halvung Brass Key
3) Halvung Shakudo Key

This zone is nice and only requires 3 keys. A solo person can farm these keys in advance, and it is recommended to do so. The drop rate on the keys is not bad and required no TH on my part as RDM/NIN solo.

I strongly recommend farming your keys ahead of time because the monsters that drop the keys are spread throughout the zone. When traveling to Gurfurlur, it is best to just focus on traveling and nothing else. Once you have your keys and regroup, take Halvung Staging Point to the first map shown below.

From here you want to head to Halvung (8). The Moths in Mount Zhayolm are True Sight, so take care around them. Flans aggro Job Abilities. Trolls are Sight so Sneak and Invisible is a must. One person must have a Cast Metal Plate or else you'll have to think of your own path to Halvung (8). Someone mentioned that you could get to the Island on the left side of the map via the old Merit Camp, but I do not know that way.

Go from (8) to (5) on the map above, and this will put you back in Mount Zhayolm. Here you need Sneak for the crabs only. Everything else is True sight past that (Moths). Do your best to avoid aggro and head to Halvung (6).

Now for the final run to Gurfurlur. He lives behind a Door around (K-11). All of the Trolls here are True Sight, so you will have to fight your way through to the door. You can try to sneak your way past things, but there is just too much True and Magic Aggro to avoid in a huge group. Once you are at the Operating Lever at (G-8), make sure no one is straggling behind. Have 6 people (or everyone) hit the Switch to open the door. If you hit the switch, and the door is open, you have to hit ESC to release the lever and more your character. There is a ledge after the Gate, Do Not Drop if everyone is not Through! You can open the door from the other side but it still takes 6! If someone does not make it through, and you have dropped down the ledge, send them to the Cast Bronze Gate to the North of the Operating Lever Gate. They will be able to open this by themselves, but they will have a Train of monster's following them. Send the rest of the alliance to the other side of the gate to pick them up... Literally, they'll be needing a raise, but as long as they get through the gate and down the ledge, you can still get them. After you make your way up the neat bridge, pass through another Operating Lever and fight your to and through the part of the map not shown in the picture at (K-10). Find the door and trade all 3 keys to open it.

Now here's the catch with this guy. Once past the door there are around 8 Trolls and a Dahak that roam around his Throne (Not on it). You will have to take care of a few of these to be able to go up to him and Fight. His Throne is not very big so staying outside of 20' is not an option, but do your best as needed. We had our super tank take his helpers to a side ramp while our main tank took Gurfurlur along with the rest of the Alliance. It worked well for us.

Gurfurlur was the weakest of the 3 Kings for us. He has a couple moves that are worthy of noting, but click on the picture for more information there. Good Luck!
